What causes wrinkles?

Many wrinkles are caused by repetitive facial expressions triggering the contraction of muscles under the skin. Botox® is injected directly into these tiny muscles, blocking nerve impulses from reaching the area and preventing further contractions. The muscle relaxes and simultaneously the skin covering the muscle is smoothed. In certain cases, with ongoing treatments, the wrinkle can actually disappear. The effects of Botox® are confined to the treated sites; it does not travel throughout the body.

Botox®: Who is it for?

If you are bothered by horizontal forehead lines, frown lines between the eyebrows, and/or crow's feet Botox® may make sense for you. Pregnant women should NOT have Botox® injections.
